Ian was born in Ladywood in Birmingham in 1954 & educated at Lordswood Boys Grammar School in Harbourne, Birmingham.
After school he joined Debenhams department store as Trainee Manager & then moved into the transport industry with Freightliners in their traffic office.
Ian joined Avis Truck Rental in May 1975 & spent the next 21 years in the industry in various management positions with Avis, Hertz and Brandrick Hire (Hertz franchise). He obtained his CPC licence in 1986.
Ian is married to Tracey, an NHS nurse, with whom he has five children & currently lives in Halesowen. His main hobbies are sport (football, cricket & golf).
