Chris D. Kelly biography
Chris D. Kelly joined the company full-time in 1999 &, until 2002, he worked as sales & marketing executive & then marketing manager. He was appointed Non-executive Director in June 2004 & was Marketing Director from January 2006 until January 2010.
During that time Chris was responsible for the continuous development of the company website since Keltruck became the first truck dealer in the UK to go online in 1998.
In 2002 Chris began studying full-time for a Master of Business Administration (MBA) post-graduate degree at Imperial College Business School. Chris wrote his MBA thesis (British Business and the Euro: an analysis of the purported advantages and disadvantages of euro entry) on the likely effects of euro entry for British business using the retail motor industry, and Keltruck in particular, as a case study. He firmly concluded that the interests of British business would be best served by remaining outside the eurozone and retaining fiscal independence. In his conclusion, Chris also raised the potential for future problems caused by the democratic deficit inherent in the draft European Constitution. Whilst writing his thesis Chris interned at the no campaign against the euro during the announcement of HM Treasury's assesment of the Government's five economic tests for euro entry. After graduating from business school, Chris worked in Parliament for the Rt. Hon. Michael Howard QC MP in 2004/5 whilst he was Leader of the Opposition.
Chris was born in 1978 & educated at Wolverhampton Grammar School & Oxford Brookes University where he was awarded an upper second class honours degree in politics & (modern) history in 1999. Whilst at university, Chris was awarded the Military Training Qualification (Part I) by the Oxford University Officer Training Corps.
Chris has contributed to numerous live national TV & radio debates & programmes & has appeared regionally on BBC Midlands Today & ITV Central News. He has also had letters published in several leading national publications including the Times (February 2002, December 2000 & June 2000), Daily Telegraph, Guardian, Independent, Daily Mail, Spectator, Metro & Commercial Motor (September 2003 & June 2002). He has been included in the Who's Who of Young Entrepreneurs since 2006.
Chris's interests include sport & fitness (skiing, squash, tennis, swimming, golf & gym), travelling, current affairs & politics (Chris has been an active political campaigner since he was 18 years old & has been a member of the executive committee of Conservative Way Forward since 2002. In September 2007 he was selected as Conservative Parliamentary Spokesman for Dudley South which he will contest at the 2010 general election.
