Meet the Team – Sharon Hawkes
How would you describe your role at Keltruck?
I am responsible for ensuring that the company's credit policy is consistently applied, trading is done in line with agreed credit limits and customers pay in accordance with our agreed credit terms. The objective being to ensure that the risk of a bad debt is minimised and cash flow maximised.
When did you start at Keltruck?
October 2005
What did you do before joining Keltruck?
I have always worked in Credit Management, primarily with companies prominent in their specific industrial sector via national networks of branches - engineering, electrical wholesale, paper & I.T.
So how did you get into the industry then? I knew little about Keltruck or Scania before I came to work at West Bromwich, but thought that my knowledge and experience would be compatible.
What do you like about the industry?
Since joining Keltruck I feel I have become part of a big family. It gives me a good feeling when travelling around the UK , to spot Keltruck mud flaps on a vehicle and wonder which depot does it's servicing!
It is a hectic work environment as my Credit Control Team and I come into contact with so many people in a day, customers external and internal through the depot network.
We get good support from our depots and collectively we try to ensure that our external customers get the best service that can be consistently provided, whilst maintaining the best interests of Keltruck. Unfortunately sometimes our credit decisions are not liked!
What do you do outside of work?
What my husband calls retail therapy i.e. shopping. Eating out and I enjoy the occasional(?) Gin & Tonic. On a healthier note, I enjoy long walks with Murphy, my black labrador.
What was your first car?
A white MG Metro GT
So what does the future hold?
For everyone and the company, in the current economic climate, survival, consolidation and then progress.
Just a bit of fun: Random fact about yourself….
I don't watch TV soaps and hate Big Brother, but I love Doctor Who (sad isn't it!).
