A RANGE of key transport issues were being discussed at a meeting today – including the Government’s controversial road pricing plan and the vital need for a re-vamped New Street Station.
Conservative parliamentary candidate for Stourbridge, Margot James, has organised the event which was being attended by Chris Grayling MP, Shadow Transport Secretary.
They were set to meet this afternoon at The Lyttleton Arms, in Bromsgrove Road, Hagley, along with representatives of public transport and haulage companies, as well as voluntary groups.
Representatives of National Express were due be there, along with Chris Kelly of West Bromwich-based Keltruck.
Margot said: “We will be looking at a host of issues which affect the Black Country and the West Midlands as a whole.
“One of the topics under scrutiny will be the Government’s road pricing plan. We will also be looking at the need for a good public transport system, a better bus network and the need for investment to regenerate New Street Station in Birmingham.”
Campaigners, backed by the Birmingham Mail, are calling for New Street to be re-built at a cost of pounds 500 million.
