Marshalls Mono Limited, the driveway, patio and civil engineering products supplier, has taken delivery of eight Scania R124LA6x2/4NA 420 twin-steer tractor units from East Midland Commercials Limited, Nottingham. Based at Marshalls’ Stockton-upon-Tees depot, the vehicles will be used to deliver the company’s products to customers in the North East, Humberside, Cumbria and the Borders.

“The decision to acquire these new vehicles followed a comprehensive review of our distribution activities, one outcome of which was to move to 44 tonnes gross train weight,” explains Marshalls Group Transport Manager, Paul Cassell.  “While we have successfully operated Scania vehicles in the North East for a number of years, we nevertheless undertook a thorough evaluation of the market before opting for the 420hp Scania units, which we have acquired under a three year contract hire arrangement.  Our selection was taken on the basis of proven local back-up and the fact that we believe the Scania package represented the best value for money.”

Twelve new trailers from General Trailers equipped with Atlas 85.1 Roll Loader cranes, have been specified along with the trucks.  The new vehicles will be used to deliver Marshalls domestic landscaping materials to builders’ merchants and transport its road-kerb, flagstone and drainage products to civil engineering firms throughout the region.

Marshalls has been supplying the construction industry for more than a hundred years.  Based in Halifax, Yorkshire, with 22 operating bases around the UK, the company has three divisions and produces extensive ranges of natural stone, concrete and clay products.
