Scania is continuing to offer Euro 5 engines using SCR technology.
For some truck operators, an early commitment to Euro 5 engines has enabled advantage to be taken of tax or road fee incentives.
Scania’s full range of new Euro 5 EGR engines will also qualify for incentives, according to local market conditions.
In addition are the 380 and 420 hp inline Euro 5 engines with SCR technology introduced in 2005 that will remain an option for operators wanting continuity of operating conditions.
However, for many applications the new Euro 5 13-litre engines with EGR technology are likely to give superior performance, economy and driveability.
For V8 engines, it is now possible to specify Euro 5 SCR with outputs for 500, 560 or 620 hp.
Why SCR?
Scania SCR is highly successful for trucks transporting heavy loads over long distances with high cruising speeds. In these circumstances, maintaining the right exhaust temperature for the engine is important for optimising performance and economy with low emissions.
