Manoeuvring tests

Fuel economy driving

Fuel-efficient driving is an important part of your skill set. In this exercise, your mission is to drive the vehicle over a given distance using as little fuel as possible in the shortest time without exceeding applicable road regulations.
You should plan your driving and take advantage of road conditions as well as vehicle weight to maximise fuel efficiency and minimise time and cost. The average fuel consumption and the average speed give you a productivity index, with the highest index being the most efficient.

Efficient driving

In this exercise, you are rewarded for showing good judgement in traffic. This is done by means of a defensive driving style that is well-planned and avoids giving rise to dangerous situations.
On a certain road distance you are tested in different traffic situations, such as a passing, crossing or a traffic circle. You should show your ability and a driving style that respects the road, other road users and the surrounding traffic infrastructure in every situation.
This part is supervised by the Scania Driver Support system which will act both as judge and personal coach.

Manoeuvring tests

The objective of these exercises is to manoeuvre the vehicle safely without errors within the time allocated, with the focus on the manoeuvring.

Slalom

An easy-to-understand test, but it can be quite tricky to manage.

• Wait for the start signal.
• Drive through the outlined slalom course.
• Stop when the truck and trailer have both passed the finishing line.
You get points for:
• Staying within the time limit allowed, driving the truck in slalom without knocking down the cones in the centre or touching the side walls. You receive points according to your performance.

The track measures 80 by 20 metres.

Knock the king

• Begin in the start field and reverse into the “knock the king” zone.
• Try to overturn each of the red posts between the adjacent two blue posts (without knocking over the blue ones).
• When all four red posts are knocked down, drive out to the bull’s eye and stop with the front of the truck as close over the centre of the target as possible.
• Press the horn when finished.

The track measures 20 by 45 metres.

Combo

This exercise starts with you setting the distance between two barrels.

• The barrels should be as close together as possible without being touched when passing with your vehicle.
• Get in the truck and drive forward so that all left wheels run over the plank. Position the truck and then reverse it so that all right wheels run over the plank.
• Reverse into the garage without touching the sides and stop as close to the rear end as possible. Press the horn when finished.
• Drive straight ahead and stop with the left front wheel as close as possible to the centre of the “hole” in the carpet.
• Press the horn.
• Back up again towards the light sensor and drive out of the “T.”
• Drive between the barrels.

The track measures 60 by 40 metres.
