Bewise Limited, the Solihull, West Midlands-based family clothing, homeware and furnishings chain, has increased the size of its national distribution fleet to 16 with the acquisition of 14 Scania 17 tonne gvw rigids and two Scania 28 tonne gvw articulated trucks, all of which have been supplied by Keltruck Limited, West Bromwich.

Commenting on the purchase, Bewise Limited’s Supply and Distribution Director Steve Ling said, “We purchased our first Scania vehicles in 1991 and while their performance has been excellent, we nevertheless went to the open market before making our choice this time.  The key factors behind our selecting Scania once again were minimal downtime, good fuel consumption and our excellent working partnership with both Scania and Keltruck.  It is the sustained growth of Bewise, backed by the service we have had from our trucks, that has seen our Scania fleet grow from three rigids ten years ago.”

The rigids supplied to Bewise are all P94DB4x2NA 220s with Peter G Reeves boxvan bodies and Ross and Bonnyman tail-lifts.  The articulated vehicles are both Scania P114LA4x2NA 340s which are running with Lawrence David tandem-axle dryfreight trailers.  All of the trucks have been supplied on three year repair and maintenance contracts which will be fulfilled by Keltruck.

Bewise is using all of its new trucks on nation-wide deliveries to its 180 stores.  “The introduction of the articulated vehicles into our fleet will support and service our continued growth and the addition of larger outlets,” adds Steve Ling.
