Limited edition truck for long-range European trips

Keltruck, the largest independently owned distributor in the Scania worldwide network, has delivered another of the 50 special edition Golden Griffin trucks that are celebrating Scania UK’s 50th anniversary. The latest truck, the seventh of 50 anniversary models made available in the UK, has been sold to Ball Trucking of Atherstone, Warwickshire.

The vehicle will run on various contracts around Europe. Keltruck will service the truck at its Tamworth branch under Scania’s three-year repair and maintenance package.

Ball Trucking has over 25 years’ experience in the UK haulage industry, and provides services both in the UK and Europe. It holds contracts with blue chip companies, including Aldi, British Sugar, Cadbury and Sitra. The company has specialist expertise in tanker work.

The new unit will join Ball Trucking’s existing fleet of more than 20 vehicles, which mainly consists of Scania models. Provided in eye-catching gold livery, the Golden Griffin is a Scania 580 V8, with a Streamline Topline cab. Each of the 50th anniversary units carries a plaque with a unique number, and is supplied with a range of extras including active and passive safety features.

Alan Ball, managing director at Ball Trucking, said, “This Golden Griffin is our flagship truck, and will be used for long haulage across the UK and Europe. It will out for six weeks at a time, so it’s important that the vehicle can handle that, which this truck can.”

Andrew Jamieson, managing director at Keltruck, said, “Ball Trucking is a longstanding Keltruck customer for 14 years, buying both new and used trucks. This latest purchase will give them the benefit of Scania’s newest technology, and the ability to deal with the longest trips around Europe.”
