Northampton-based tipper operator M. F. Quinn Limited provides a 24/7 service transporting road planings for highways construction firms and civil engineers throughout the Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Oxfordshire region. Since commencing business operations five years ago, the company has been steadily developing and expanding its fleet. Starting off as a single vehicle operator, the company now runs five Scania 8×4 tippers, all of which have been acquired new with financial support from Scania Financial Services (SFS).
“Our vehicles are supplied today by Keltruck and financed by SFS, both of whom we have an excellent relationship with,” says M. F. Quinn Managing Director, Michael Quinn. “In particular, Keltruck’s sales executive Russ Kelly works closely with SFS’s Ian Kavanagh and us to provide the trucks and finance packages we need to ensure the ongoing success of our business. In practice, it works really well; SFS have a flexible, can-do attitude which enables us to work the way we prefer. For example, we like to keep our SFS account in credit rather than pay by direct debit, as that suits our business model. Also, we had a recent example where we were going to pay the VAT on a new truck up front, but when the sale of an existing vehicle fell through, SFS changed our arrangement even though the finance for the new vehicle was already live. That kind of flexibility makes a real difference and is a key reason why SFS is our first choice finance provider.
“The other point I would note is that both Keltruck and SFS are extremely easy to deal with; they never fail to respond and communicate with me – and good communications are really important to me. All-in-all, it’s an excellent relationship which makes things easy for us – Keltruck and SFS are a great team and a pleasure to do business with.”
SFS and Keltruck
SFS and Keltruck, Scania’s dealer for the West Midlands and South Wales, work collaboratively to provide a range of bespoke financial packages specifically tailored to meet the individual needs of Keltruck’s customers. As part of this relationship, two SFS finance specialists – Business Managers Ian Kavanagh and Mat Bird – and are now permanently based within Keltruck’s region where they work with the dealer’s sales force on a daily basis.
“By working with us and our operators, the SFS team use their second-to-none industry experience to construct affordable and flexible solutions which take into account individual operational requirements,” comments Keltruck Sales Director Dave Morgan. “That is their key to success and an essential element of their service from our customers’ point-of-view.”
