A New Chapter for Ben Bennett Jr Limited
Founded in 1883, Ben Bennett Jr Limited’s vast and rich history has entered a new chapter with the introduction of some extra-special Scania vehicles supplied by Keltruck Limited.
A significant milestone in Ben Bennett Jr Limited’s history was the purchase 90 years ago – in 1935 – of Grange Mill Quarry in Matlock. As a result, from the 1950s Ben Bennett Jr began running their own fleet of vehicles for the transportation of their quarry products.
Today the company supply a vast array of bulk tanker and tipper products into a plethora of industrial applications such as glass, rubber, pharmaceuticals, sealants, carpets, tile grout and post mix, to name but a few.
Like Keltruck, Ben Bennett Jr has a proud family-owned history. Ben Bennett Jr is still 100% family owned and is today led by the 5th generation, Managing Director, Jane Bennett. With the 6th generation already actively involved in the company the future remains firmly family focused.
Ben Bennett Jr’s directors work closely with their drivers and take immense pride in their fleet, which is immediately evident upon visiting. The Bennett family maintain that none of what they do would be possible without the dedication and hard work of their committed team and are extremely grateful for their colleagues’ continued efforts and professionalism.

Keltruck Limited’s introduction into the illustrious history of Ben Bennett Jr began in 2022 when Account Manager, Calum Crooks, first contacted the company. Shortly after, in 2023, Keltruck supplied a Scania demonstration vehicle which performed superbly in terms of fuel efficiency – a frequent result for those who get to experience first-hand the unparalleled Scania performance. These impressive results led Ben Bennett Jr to place an order shortly thereafter for a Scania Super R560 packed with extras, including the full driver package.
The Ben Bennett Jr fleet is made extra special by its fully uniform appearance – instantly recognisable with a nod to their substantial heritage.
Although the incredible performance of the Scania demonstrator was a big factor in the purchase decision, the relationship built between Keltruck and Ben Bennett Jr was also key to this new chapter in the company’s history. When we visited the company Transport Manager, Steve Woolliscroft, was full of praise for Keltruck Account Manager, Calum Crooks, saying “he has been amazing… We trust what Calum says and value his continued willingness to help us on our journey.” Alongside Calum, former Keltruck Scania Driver Trainer, David Stevens was also heavily involved in the creation of this exciting partnership, having also worked closely with the company to build a foundation of trust and reliability.
In the 2 years that Ben Bennett Jr have operated Scania vehicles not only have they unlocked unmatched fuel-efficiency, performance and reliability but also the excellence that is Keltruck Scania support – from sales and servicing to full on-site driver training.
The 15-vehicle strong Ben Bennett Jr fleet will soon be one-third Scania with the delivery of two more vehicles by Calum and Keltruck, marking the start of an extremely exciting time for both Keltruck and Ben Bennett Jr.
