A man who has gone from apprentice to boss is to head up Midland’s Scania lorry distributor Keltruck. The firm has announced the appointment of John Biggin as managing director.
Keltruck, which operates from nine locations, has an annual turnover of pounds 50 million and employs 275 people.
Chris Kelly, who founded the business in 1983, steps down as managing director, but continues as chairman. Mr Biggin, aged 40, started his career as an apprentice bus fitter with Chesterfield Transport.
After nine years he moved south, working for Peter Brown Commercials, the DAF Trucks dealer in Northampton, as an HGV fitter. He eventually became group service manager.
