For the past 20 years Keltruck Limited have supplied J. A. Barker Limited with a range of Scania vehicles – in the shape of tractor units and eight-wheelers – and continue to support the family run firm in their journey within the aggregate industry.
J. A. Barker was established in 1982 by Andrew Barker and has grown over the years with the help of his eldest son, Ben Barker. The Derbyshire based company have never failed to impress with their incredibly special Scania tipper fleet. The relationship with Keltruck Scania began back in 2005 when they purchased their first new Scania – a 4 Series 420 8-wheeler tipper. Since then the relationship has grown from strength-to-strength, latterly thanks to Keltruck Scania Account Manager Calum Crooks. The J. A. Barker fleet now totals 15 vehicles – all of which are aggregate tippers – comprising seven artics and eight rigids.
Over the course of the 20-year relationship with Keltruck, J. A. Barker have consistently put Scania at the forefront of their operations. The quality and look of Scania is often popular with drivers (including those eagerly waiting in the wings – the two young sons of Ben Barker!) The robustness and payload of the Scanias makes them perfect for the construction application – a balance of strength and capability that defines Scania vehicles.
These stunning vehicles are a testament to the care and consideration that J. A. Barker give to their fleet. The all-white cabs remain gleaming despite the harsh conditions they work in, whilst the simple but elegant J. A. Barker Limited monogram motif they are adorned with helps them stand out from the rest. Spec’d with high powered engines coupled with opticruise gearboxes to cope with the harsh hills of the Peak District, this Scania fleet maintains impeccable fuel-economy and performance. Inside, drivers are treated to all leather interiors with premium infotainment screens and fridges – an interior specification to attract drivers with a premium cabin feel coupled with the unmatched performance and capabilities of a Scania.
With the recent addition of new vehicles supplied by Calum, the future for the relationship between J. A. Barker and Keltruck Scania holds many more exciting milestones to come.
