Keltruck Scania has joined Scania Group in flying the flag of Ukraine.

Chris D. Kelly, chairman, said:

We stand with Ukraine.

The Prime Minister has denounced Russia’s invasion as “Illegal and barbaric”. We felt as a company it was important for us to not only donate via the wonderful Charities Aid Foundation to the two main UK charities (Disasters Emergency Committee and British Red Cross) delivering aid on the ground in Ukraine and to refugee camps in neighbouring countries but to also fly the Ukrainian flag from our enormous head office flag pole on junction 1 of the M5 at West Bromwich to show our concern for the innocent victims of Putin’s aggression and express our solidarity with the people of Ukraine.

We have been overwhelmed by the messages of support from both colleagues within the business and members of the public and encourage everyone to do what they can to help, including donating, if they can, to DEC.

As Ukrainian refugees start arriving in the UK we will be encouraging staff, customers and suppliers to help in any way we can. At times like this it is clear that the road transport industry in the UK is one large family with a spirit of huge generosity and humanity. We thank all those in the industry who have already helped the people of Ukraine.

The company is currently readying its Scania 530S demonstrator to take part in a Lomas Distribution aid mission to neighbouring Poland.
