Keltruck Scania was delighted to welcome Mid Leicestershire’s Member of Parliament, Peter Bedford, to Groby to meet staff and see firsthand the expansion and redevelopment of the site currently underway.
Peter, elected in July 2024, took the time during a constituency Friday to visit Midland Distribution Centre on Markfield Road where he was greeted by Keltruck Scania branch manager David Woodbine and general manager Andrew Bentley.
Peter also took time to visit our neighbouring business on the site, Westermans International.
Peter was invited to visit by our chairman, Chris D. Kelly, himself formerly a Conservative MP (now retired).
Following the visit Peter commented:
Earlier today I visited Keltruck Scania in Groby, who are the largest independent distributor in the Scania worldwide network, and employ hundreds of people across the UK.
Their site, at the Midland Distribution Centre, is currently undergoing major modernisation; so it was good to see the progress that’s been made and discuss how they are minimising disruption to the local area.
During my visit I also met Sam, one of their Apprentice Technicians, and it was fantastic to see first-hand the company’s commitment to investing in skills, apprenticeships and on the job training.
Brilliant that businesses like this choosing to operate in Mid Leicestershire.
Thanks to Dave and the team for showing me around.
PETER BEDFORD MP
Chris commented:
Thank you to Peter for accepting the invitation to visit us and for taking the time to talk with our staff.
We look forward to having Peter back for the grand reopening when all works are completed.
CHRIS D. KELLY
